HJC CL-SP - Breaking Through Once Again

With the new CL-SP model, HJC reinstates why its CL helmet series is the top-selling helmet line in North America for more than a decade.  Although not without its share of nicks here and there, this helmet breaks into the competition crowd with a snobbish look that is carried out further by its edge in quality over other brands.

The CL-SP offers two air vents at the top that provide excellent air flow that gives excellent ventillation without the usual noise.  It comes with the trusted HJC locking mechanism that snaps in place -- something that, when combined with the comfortable (not to mention anti-bacterial) inner lining, decreases any unwanted pressure that may mar one's riding experience.  It also has an easy-to-remove visor that may be placed in either half-open or full-open position.  A rocker switch at the left-hand side locks the visor in place when in closed position. 

What may be a small setback to this "new generation" locking system is that it prevents the visor from opening just slightly enough for those who only want a touch of cool air in their face.  Another is the weight (1713 grams)-- although not uncomfortable, and satisfactory compared to other helmet brands, the CL-SP is significantly heavier (by 9 grams) than its CL-14 predecessor. 

In conclusion, all things considered, the CL-SP is one of the best helmets out in the market.  Its campaign of simplicity combined with a reasonable price ($159.99) puts it above the rest as the helmet for the rider who vies for excellent quality without the extra frills.  Its sleek look and approved performance promises a safe, comfortable ride for any biker.

Pros:  very quiet, comfortable, very reasonably-priced considering quality

Cons: visor may be a bit inflexible (only has three adjustments), a bit heavier than earlier CL models
